Anxiety Therapy for High Achievers

Become your own hero instead of your worst enemy.

Anxiety leaves us little room to fully embrace the present moment. It often feels like our anxiety is in the driver’s seat of our life, overshadowing our potential and achievements. For high achievers, anxiety can be particularly challenging, limiting our ability to perform at our best and undermining our confidence.

Anxiety can manifest as persistent tension in your body, excessive overthinking about every detail, and a relentless focus on past mistakes or future uncertainties. Despite your drive for success, you may find yourself trapped in a cycle of self-criticism and frustration, struggling to break free from negative thoughts and emotions.

Commonly asked questions about Anxiety Therapy

  • We’ll work collaboratively to understand your attitudes and beliefs that are behind your anxiety, develop effective coping strategies, and build resilience. We’ll explore and address the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that contribute to anxiety, empowering you to manage and overcome anxiety-related challenges so that you develop faith in yourself to handle life, leading to a greater sense of calm and well-being.

  • Stress and anxiety can overlap but it’s helpful to distinguish the two. Stress is a natural response to external pressures or demands. Generally, once the external stress is over (like a big project is completed), the stress level drops. Stress is therefore usually short-term and manageable. Anxiety is a heightened state of worry or unease that can persist even without an immediate stressor. Anxiety tends to be more chronic and can interfere with your work, relationships, parenting, and general well-being. Symptoms of anxiety may include persistent worry, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, sleep disturbances, and physical symptoms like rapid heartbeat or stomachaches.

Anxiety can sometimes escalate to a point where it triggers a panic attack. Panic attacks can be terrifying and overwhelming, and they often occur suddenly without any obvious trigger. During a panic attack, you may experience intense physical and psychological symptoms, such as a racing heart, shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness, trembling, and sweating, often accompanied by scary thoughts of dying or losing control.
