Here are some indications that you could benefit from therapy for relationship concerns:
Repeated patterns: you find yourself in the same frustrating, unsatisfying relationship patterns. The object of your affection may change but it’s the same dynamic as before.
Difficulty managing emotions: you experience intense emotions such as anger, jealousy, insecurity, or anxiety in your relationships and struggle to regulate them.
Low self-esteem: How you feel about yourself depends on your relationships with others. You find it challenging to maintain a healthy sense of self-worth based on your relationship status.
Codependency: you tend to rely heavily on others for validation, happiness, or a sense of identity, to the point where it becomes detrimental to your well-being.
Difficulty communicating: you struggle to effectively communicate your needs, feelings, or concerns within your relationships.
Past traumas or unresolved issues: your emotional baggage is interfering with your connections.

Absolutely not! Individual therapy for relationship concerns extends beyond romantic connections, encompassing friendships, family dynamics, work-place relationships, and more, to foster healthier and more fulfilling connections in various areas of your life.

Sometimes. However, in my experience working with clients with relationship concerns for more than 25 years, I have found that even if one person of the couple seeks therapy, the relationship quality can greatly improve. Sometimes one member of the couple does not wish to participate in therapy. The person that does wish to can get a lot of clarity, and understand themselves and their partner, through individual relationship therapy.
